Brief Tip: The Four Natural Behaviors in Teaching the Come Command
There are several techniques you can use to get your dog to come to you on command. All of the techniques rely on the following guidelines:

  • Be in motion with the dog. This provides a more alluring target to chase.
  • Make unique, friendly and alluring sounds to trigger and maintain the dog's attention.
  • Do not pull or yank the dog's leash when practicing.
  • When the dog begins to come towards you, drop or squat to the ground and extend your bait hand with the treat.
